About Me

BSNR
Harpenden, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom
The nature reserve at Batford Springs offers a quiet oasis amid the urban landscape of Harpenden. It provides a variety of habitats for species, including Wetland and Reedbed, Damp Woodland and Meadow.

It also features a network of chalk streams. These are fed from boreholes drilled down to the chalk beneath the Reserve, providing cool, fresh water for growing water cress commercially in days gone by.

The Batford Springs Volunteers help to maintain and manage the reserve. We perform conservation activities that encourage habitat and species diversity, whilst also offering educational and recreational opportunities for the public.
